Background: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Monitoring, Evaluation, and Technical Support Services (METSS) program, sought to establish a knowledge management portal, online discussion tool, and electronic library to ensure effective information sharing. The METSS program performed functions including monitoring and evaluation activities of USAID’s partners, undertaking research to enhance decision-making, providing information to specific audiences through a coordinated knowledge management system to improve their ability to enhance incomes, reduce poverty and improve food security. Considering these functions, the USAID METSS project collaborated with many stakeholders hence the need to ensure effective information sharing.
Solution: A web-based knowledge management portal was developed and designed by Bewsys to allow users to explore data, information and knowledge relevant to USAID’s work in Ghana. The portal encourages information exchange and provides an electronic library with a collection of relevant work.
Impact: With the development of the knowledge and management portal, there is increased learning and collaboration with the private sector, non-government, and government organisations which enables easier decision-making. The portal has provided easier access to information on progress on poverty, nutrition, and food security projects across communities in Ghana.
