The Ghana Industry CEO awards is an annual awards scheme aimed at identifying and publicly recognizing exceptional chief executives in corporate Ghana across a wide range of sectors. This year, Robert Okine, CEO of Bewsys, has been nominated in the Information Technology category of the award scheme. Being shortlisted in this category is recognition of the impactful work done. A nomination that gives recognition is laudable, and there are numerous reasons why this award is much deserved.

As the CEO at Bewsys, Robert Okine has worked on over 60 projects with various international development organisations and government agencies in more than 60 countries, focusing on digital technologies as a tool to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). Robert Okine has led assignments for bilateral and multilateral international development organisations such as The World Bank Group, UNDP, UNICEF, UNOPS, IOM, USAID, Mastercard Foundation,  ECOWAS, African Union (AU), and Association of African Universities (AAU).

As CEO, Robert led the alignment of Bewsys' business strategies to focus on addressing global challenges by leveraging innovative software solutions to reduce social and economic inequalities, protect the wellbeing of children, protect the planet, and promote peace.

Hence the sustainable development goals (SDGs) became a core part of our daily operations, and the management team incorporated sustainable business practices into the fabric of the company's culture.

In the last decade, Robert has led Bewsys to make an even greater commitment to delivering life-changing information management systems to support sustainable development initiatives in the humanitarian sector across developing countries. He is committed to showcasing how business can be a force for good and take action on sustainable development issues.

In Ghana, Bewsys has developed solutions that have cut across social protection management information systems (MIS), education MIS, agriculture MIS and e-governance. Robert Okine has led Bewsys to establish a database system for child trafficking data collection, analysis and dissemination, and a software for digital monitoring and reporting of district-level Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) activities and aggregation of district reports at the national level. An MIS solution to enable the midwifery and nursing workforce to access e-learning materials to improve maternal and child health care delivery has also been developed by Bewsys. These are but a few projects Robert has worked on in Ghana

Bewsys has established itself in the IT industry in Ghana by developing innovative solutions that create value and impact lives. Bewsys has also placed Ghana on international platforms by changing the narrative and providing solutions across the globe. His efforts in the international landscape were honored by the United Nations Global Compact  as he became the first African to be awarded the SDG pioneer of the year award for Digital inclusion and innovation.
